CHADET is a child focused Ethiopian Resident Charity which exists to ensure the provision of quality services for vulnerable children. Every year CHADET supports more than 20,000 such children.CHADET will be implementing a Girls’ Education Challenge Transition (GEC-T) project funded by DFID aimed at supporting 16,503 marginalized girls stay in school, learn and successfully transit in the different cycles of education. This project is a four year project (2017-2021) to be implemented in 30 Kebeles in three Zones (South Gondar, South Wollo and Arsi) in Amhara and Oromiya Regional States. CHADET is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions.
Position title: Community Worker
Duty Station: Project Offices (Debretabor, Kombolcha and Assela)
Report to: GEC-T Project Manager
Salary: Negotiable
Term of employment: One year contract with possible extension based on proven
performance,
Desired No: Debretabor = 8, Kombolcha = 6 and Assela = 6
A) Major duties and responsibilities
- Work closely with targeted schools, members of the community and other local stakeholders to help girls stay in schools;
- Facilitate the timely collection of data concerning GEC-T girls desired by the project;
- Check timely execution of school based activities;
- Support the field office team in scholastic and other material distribution;
- Prepare periodic progress reports to inform the status on project activities;
- Support school to keep proper documentation;
- Work closely with PTAs, CCCs (in Amhara Region) and similar stakeholders in Oromiya Region to support the school-based violence reporting mechanism - letter-link;
- Conduct quarterly school talks on usage of letter link boxes for students and school community
- Assist target girls and their families under the project to receive support so as to promote girls education among the communities;
- Coordinate, support, mentor and supervise volunteers;
B) Job Requirements
- A minimum BA Sociology, Social Work other related social science fields.
- Minimum 3 years and above NGO experience (after graduation)
C) Skills and Abilities
- Good communication skill
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written) is required, in addition to this for Assela field base fluency in Oromiffa (spoken and written) is mandatory.
