CHADET is a child focused Ethiopian Resident Charity which exists to ensure the provision of quality services for vulnerable children. Every year CHADET supports more than 20,000 such children.CHADET will be implementing a Girls’ Education Challenge Transition (GEC-T) project funded by DFID aimed at supporting 16,503 marginalized girls stay in school, learn and successfully transit in the different cycles of education. This project is a four year project (2017-2021) to be implemented in 30 Kebeles in three Zones (South Gondar, South Wollo and Arsi) in Amhara and Oromiya Regional States. CHADET is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions.
Position title: Education and Safeguarding Officer
Duty Station: Project Offices (Debretabor, Kombolcha and Assela)
Report to: GEC-T Project Manager
Salary: As per the organization’s scale
Term of employment: One year contract with possible extension based on proven
performance,
Desired No: One per project site
A) Major duties and responsibilities
- Collaborate and work with Zonal, Woreda Education Departments and offices to ensure that adequate technical assistance is provided to teachers teaching English and Math and local language (Amharic and Oromiffa);
- Lead the timely collection of data on girls’ related with education, safeguarding and disability;
- Ensure that activities related with disability, safeguarding and education are being implemented properly in the field;
- Work closely with government stakeholders, cluster supervisors, education bureau focal, CCCs in Amhara Region and similar stakeholders in Oromiya Region;
- Conducting regular supportive supervision and surprise visits to schools to ensure that the project is running smoothly;
- Facilitate education, safeguarding and disability related trainings, workshops, experience sharing visits and other capacity building activities for project staff, teachers and volunteers;
- Preparing periodic reports related to education, safeguarding and disability activity milestones and outputs;
- Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis on education, safeguarding and disability component of the project as per the standard set in the project;
- Properly documenting education, safeguarding and disability related activities, data and records including trainings.
B) Job Requirements
- A minimum BA Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Women and Gender Studies other related social science fields.
- Minimum 3 years and above NGO experience (after graduation)
C) Skills and Abilities
- Computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and Amharic (spoken and written) is required, in addition to this for Assela field base fluency in Oromiffa (spoken and written) is mandatory
